New Korean Beauty Brand by Zhoozh Makes Sophisticated Skincare Simple and Sustainable

We are on a mission to simplify beauty with three core values: healthy skin, minimal routines, and most importantly, sustainable living. From environmentally-friendly packaging to the elimination of single-use plastics to filler-free products that save water, these beliefs drive the focus of every product and every process.

Since pre-launching late last year, by Zhoozh has already earned attention for its debut product Snow Cleansing Balm, a simple yet powerful facial balm that moisturizes the skin without wasting plastic or water. With a highly concentrated formulation and zero filler ingredients, customers only need a small amount to cover the entire face. In turn, it requires fewer replacements, needs minimal shipments, and prevents the unnecessary use of single-use plastics.

This sustainable mission is driven by the environmental damage unique to the beauty industry: an estimated 120 billion units of plastic packaging are generated by cosmetics every year, and 90% of that plastic ends up in landfills and oceans. To break this cycle, the aluminum Snow Cleansing Balm container is a circulate product designed to be kept and repurposed, as opposed to ending up in a landfill.

“So many of us want to help the environment, but it’s difficult to re-think our relationship with beauty and cosmetics in order to reduce our personal impact on the planet,” said Chrisrine Soo, founder of by Zhoozh. “By making the switch to waterless, sustainable products that last longer and lower waste, both the health of our skin and the health of the environment will be improved tenfold.”

Because the Snow Cleansing Balm is developed with the latest crystallization technology, it doesn’t contain any water, sulfates, parabens, colorants, alcohol, fragrances, or other substances that cause inflammation, making it safe even for eye makeup removal. Made with vegan-friendly ingredients ideal for all skin types, Snow Cleansing Balm utilizes active ingredients to clear pores, remove makeup and sunscreen, and retain the skin’s natural moisture barrier – all with a featherlight texture and buttery snow-like feel. The unique properties of Snow Cleaning Balm make using the product feel like an act of self-care.

The idea for by Zhoozh came to life after the company’s founder Chrisrine Soo spent years traveling through international airports. Water-based solutions and toiletries were too often confiscated during airport security checks, contributing to widespread waste and damage to the environment. Even when people opt for travel-sized cosmetics, the one-time usage of so many plastic bottles contribute even further to the plastic waste problem.

The purposeful design of the Snow Cleansing Balm will be the first of many sustainable products released by by Zhoozh. Each will feature simple and gentle formulations that make it easy to achieve great skin with as few steps as possible. To live up to its mission of creating minimalist skin routines and eliminating reliance on multiple products, by Zhoozh will focus on the most essential elements of  healthy skin maintenance.
